Balochistan has reported another Congo virus cases, increasing the number of cases to 41 this year, ARY News reported on Monday. “Sharafuddin, 25, was brought to Fatima Jinnah Hospital in a precarious condition,” hospital officials said. The man was tested positive for Congo virus after undergoing tests, the hospital sources said. This is not the first instance that an epidemic of Congo virus fever has broken out in Balochistan. In late 80s and mid-90s dozens of people had died of the disease, health sources said. The virus is primarily transmitted to humans by ticks on cattle and other livestock and can cause severe fever, muscle pain, vomiting, and internal bleeding. WHO chief says north Gaza in ‘catastrophic’ danger

The World Health Organization (WHO) chief warned of a disastrous situation in the north of war-ravaged Gaza, with “intensive military operations unfolding around and within healthcare facilities”. “The situation in northern Gaza is catastrophic,” Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X, warning that “a critical shortage of medical supplies, compounded by severely limited access, are depriving people of life saving care.” He highlighted Kamal Adwan, northern Gaza’s last functioning hospital, which was stormed by Israeli forces on Friday, according to Gaza’s health ministry. Italian Navy aircraft carrier arrives in Pakistan to boost defence cooperation

ISLAMABAD: The Italian Navy’s Carrier Strike Group comprising an aircraft carrier and a frigate arrived in Karachi for a three-day visit to enhance regional maritime security and defense cooperation between the two countries.  The visiting Italian fleet comprises aircraft carrier Cavour and the Alpino frigate, which arrived in Karachi on Monday. The group was welcomed by Pakistan Navy’s senior officials and Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Marilina Armellin upon their arrival. Driving schools for females launched in Lahore

LAHORE: Ten driving schools for females have been established across Lahore, ARY News reported on Monday. As per details, driving schools have been established at multiple locations across the city, including Greater Iqbal Park, Kahna Misaq Center, Township, Liberty Khidmat Markaz, Manawan Traffic Lines, Defence Khidmat Markaz, and Barkat Market. Additionally, Aabshar Driving School on Jail Road and the females on Wheel School on LOS Ferozepur Road have been dedicated exclusively to the females. The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore Amara Tahir stated that classes are held from 8 am to 4 pm  to accommodate women,  with driving schools offering  a women-to-women service where female instructors teach and assist women learners.   This initiative aims to promote women’s independence and mobility, enabling them to become self-sufficient and confident individuals. At the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chinese Premier Li Qiang will visit Pakistan from October 14–17, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning announced here on Sunday. During the visit, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council will attend the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to be held in Islamabad from October 14-17 and pay an official visit to Pakistan, she said in a statement. Searing weather in Karachi, as low-pressure area develops in Arabian Sea

KARACHI: The city experiencing a searing weather spell as a low-pressure area reported by the Met Office, formed in the Arabian Sea in southeast of Karachi. The weather in Karachi will remain hot and dry during next 24 hours with maximum temperature likely to remain between 37 to 39 Celsius today. Minimum temperature was recorded 24.4 Celsius today with 51% percent humidity. A low-pressure area formed over Southeast Arabian Sea at around Latitude 17.0 N & Longitude 72.0 E at a distance of about 1000km southeast of Karachi. The system is likely to concentrate into a Depression due to favorable environmental conditions during next 2 to 3 days and move initially towards northwest, the Met Office said. PMD’s cyclone warning center, Karachi is monitoring the system. Currently none of the coastal areas in Pakistan likely to be impacted by this weather system. Chicken prices record massive hike

Chicken prices have witnessed a massive hike across Punjab, ARY News reported on Friday. As per details, the price of broiler chicken as reached Rs490 per kg, while its meat is being sold at a whopping Rs800 per kg across Punjab including Rawalpindi. The authorities seem to be failing to control the increasing rate of the chicken. In May, chicken prices fell by Rs39 per kg in the retail market of Punjab’s Lahore, bringing the new rate of the meat to Rs416/kg. PIA staff returns lost gold ornaments to passenger

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) staff on Tuesday returned lost gold ornaments to its owner at Islamabad International Airport, ARY News reported.  According to the details, a passenger was traveling from Doha to Sialkot via Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, when he forgot his gold ornaments. PIA security staff Sikandar Zaib found the lost gold ornaments during checking of the cabin. The staffer handed over the recovered gold ornaments to the management, which after contacting its owner named Abdullah Moosa. The yellow metal was returned to its owner, who thanked the authorities for returning his lost cash.
