Bohra community celebrates Eidul Fitr

The Dawoodi Bohra community across Pakistan is celebrating Eidul Fitr today with religious enthusiasm. Special Eid prayer gatherings were held in Bohra community mosques nationwide. In Karachi, the largest Eid congregation took place at Tahiri Mosque in Saddar, where a large number of community members participated. Additionally, Eid prayers were held in Pan Mandi, Soldier Bazaar, Baloch Colony, North Nazimabad, and Hyderi, where community members shared festive moments. KP govt announces remission for prisoners on Eidul Fitr

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has announced a two-month reduction in sentences for prisoners on the occasion of Eidul Fitr 2025, ARY News reported. According to a notification issued by the provincial Home Department, this reprieve does not apply to those convicted of terrorism, murder, kidnapping, or other serious crimes. The sentence reduction is only applicable to prisoners convicted of minor offenses. This news comes as Pakistan prepares to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, on March 30 or 31, depending on the sighting of the moon. Earlier on Friday, President Asif Ali Zardari granted a special 180-day sentence reduction for prisoners on the occasion of Pakistan Day and Eidul Fitr 2025 under Article 45 of the Constitution. Trump drives trade war fears with new autos tariffs

Asian auto stocks fell on Thursday after US President Donald Trump unveiled a 25% tariff on imported vehicles, expanding a global trade war and prompting criticism and threats of retaliation from affected US allies. The new levies on cars and light trucks will take effect on April 3, the day after Trump plans to announce reciprocal tariffs aimed at the countries responsible for the bulk of the US trade deficit. They come on top of duties already introduced on steel and aluminum, and on goods from Mexico, Canada and China. The US imported $474 billion worth of automotive products in 2024, including passenger cars worth $220 billion. Canada freezes rebate payments to Tesla

Canada has frozen all rebate payments for Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab and banned the electric-vehicle maker from future EV rebate programs, Transport Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Tuesday. No rebate payments will be made until each claim is individually investigated and determined to be valid, Freeland said in an emailed statement shared by her office. Freeland also directed the transport department to revise eligibility requirements for future iZEV programs to ensure that Tesla vehicles are not eligible as long as the “illegitimate and illegal U.S. tariffs are imposed against Canada.” Tesla did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Sunil Narine narrowly avoided dismissal despite a hit-wicket incident against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) during the opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at Eden Gardens. Batting on 44 off 26 balls, Sunil Narine appeared to be out when he accidentally hit the stumps with his bat during the seventh over. Facing a sharp short delivery from Rasikh Salam, Narine attempted to evade the ball, but in doing so, his bat struck the stumps, dislodging the bails. Karachi traffic accidents claim three more lives

KARACHI: In a disturbing series of events, deadly traffic accidents in Karachi resulted in the loss of three motorcyclists’ lives across the city within a mere few hours, ARY News reported. A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an unidentified vehicle near Keamari Gate No. 1. A motorcyclist was killed in a tragic traffic accident at Gulistan-e-Jauhar Perfume Chowk in Karachi. According to eyewitnesses, the motorcyclist was hit by a pick-up van, fell on the road, and was subsequently run over by a dumper coming from behind. MADINAH: Saudi Arabia’s authorities revealed the visiting hours for Rawdah Al-Sharif during the last 10 days of Ramadan, local media reported. According to the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has , women can visit Rawdah Al-Sharif from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., while men can visit in two separate time slots: 11:20 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and additional slots from 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. To ensure a smooth experience for worshipers, the authority has made it mandatory for visitors to pre-book their prayer slots through the Nusuk app. This measure aims to organize and facilitate visits to the sacred site during the holy month. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume flights to the United Kingdom (UK) following the lifting of the European Union ban after Eidul Fitr, said Pakistan HC Mohammad Faisal.
