QUETTA: The polling material is being dispatched to Quetta as the general elections are scheduled for February 8 (tomorrow) across Pakistan, ARY News reported. As per details, three points have been established across Quetta for the delivery of polling material. The delivery process is underway from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Balochistan University and Law College. The polling stuff will be dispatched to NA-262, PB-38, PB-39, PB-40 from Law College, NA-263, PB-41, PB-42, PB-43 from DC office whereas the polling material will be dispatched to NA-264, PB-44, PB-45, PB-46. Driving licence fee hike challenged in LHC

LAHORE: The recent hike in driving licence fees in Punjab has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC), ARY News reported on Wednesday. The plea was filed by Ghulam Rasool Haral Advocate. Caretaker Punjab government, IG Punjab, and others have been made respondents. The petitioner has adopted the stance that the increase in the fee for a driving licence is against the law. The caretaker government does not have the authority to impose additional taxes and increase the prices. The LHC has issued notices to the respondents in the case. KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the immediate acquisition of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) as general elections are around the corner. According to details, NADRA has said that by giving normal, urgent or executive fees, the applicant can receive the ID card from NADRA offices during office hours on February 6 and 7. Two more children succumb to pneumonia in Punjab

LAHORE: Pneumonia claimed two more lives of children during the past 24 hours in Punjab, ARY News reported quoting the health department on Sunday. According to the Punjab Health Department, a total of 605 new cases of pneumonia were reported during the last 24 hours. The health authorities said Lahore logged 177 fresh cases of pneumonia during the last 24 hours. Punjab has reported 318 pneumonia-related deaths, while over 20,872 cases have been reported in the province whereas Lahore only reported 58 deaths and 4,050 cases. Health experts attribute the rapid increase in cases and deaths in Punjab to the environmental pollution caused by smog during the winter season. Pneumonia is an infection in the lungs, often caused by viruses. It can manifest after symptoms of a cold or flu and can range from mild to severe.
