Fearing arrest, PTI’s Zartaj Gul seeks transit bail from PHC

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul on Wednesday moved Peshawar High Court (PHC) for transit bail following the registration of case against her in Islamabad after September 8 rally. Zartaj Gul in her plea stated that a case had been registered against her in Islamabad for ‘holding a public rally’. Citing, the arrest of many MNAs from the Parliament House, the former minister pleaded with the high court for transit bail. On Monday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen were arrested. The Capital police arrested MNAs Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram from inside the Parliament House. Additionally, police detained Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak. More PTI leaders arrested outside parliament

Islamabad police took more Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders into custody who had sought refuge inside the parliament house, ARY News reported. The Capital police arrested MNAs Zain Qureshi and Sheikh Waqas Akram from inside the Parliament House. Additionally, police detained Owais Ahmed Chatha, Syed Shah Ahmed, Sunni Ittehad Council’s Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Yousaf Khan, Maulana Naseem Shah, and Ahmed Shah Khattak. Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, Sher Afzal Marwat, and Shoaib Shaheen were also arrested. Additionally, three cases have been registered under the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill in Islamabad, citing violations of the event’s NOC. The FIR names 28 individuals, including PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Ali, Sher Afzal Marwat, Shoaib Shaheen, Omar Gul, Zartaj Gul, Aamir Mughal, Seemabia Tahir, and Raja Basharat. South Waziristan: Man killed, three injured in Wana explosion

WANA: A man killed, and three others injured in an explosion in Karikot village bazaar adjacent to Wana in South Waziristan district, ARY News reported on Sunday. “The blast reported in Karikot village market in a vehicle that killed a man and injured three others,” local police said. “The man killed in the explosion has been identified as Shamsuddin s/o Malik Jamil,” according to police. The rescue officials reached the spot and rushed the injured and the body to the district headquarters hospital in Wana. Three persons were dead in a remote-controlled bomb blast in Wana, last year in November. The explosion took place in Duja Ghondai area of Wana where a bomb was planted in a shop. The explosion resulted in killing of three people including Malik Aslam Noor and his 12-year-old son. The deceased had earlier lost elder brother and three nephews in bomb blasts. Metro bus service suspend amid PTI public rally

Metro bus service operations have been suspended between Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to scheduled public rally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), ARY News reported on Sunday, citing service administration.  The service will remain suspended from Sadar Station to Pak Secretariat on the directions of the Islamabad administration, the Metro Bus service said. The PTI aims to demonstrate its political strength through the rally in Islamabad today. The party’s leadership has already visited the venue, and preparations are complete. The district administration had granted conditional approval for the rally, stipulating that it would run from 4 pm to 7 pm, with no disruption to business or public movement. Six people, including one civilian, were killed as fresh violence broke out between two warring ethnic communities in the northeast Indian state of Manipur on Saturday, authorities said. The majority Meitei community and the tribal Kukis have clashed sporadically since last year after a court ordered the state government to consider extending special economic benefits and quotas in government jobs and education enjoyed by the Kukis to the Meiteis as well. More than 225 people have been killed and some 60,000 have been displaced. Saturday’s gunfire incident represents the most number of casualties for a single day in the latest spurt of violence that began a week ago. BEIRUT: Hezbollah announced retaliatory rocket fire targeting a town in northern Israel early Sunday, hours after Lebanon’s health ministry said an Israeli attack killed three civil defence personnel in the country’s south. The Lebanese movement has exchanged near-daily cross-border fire with Israeli forces in support of ally Hamas since the Palestinian militant group’s October 7 attack on Israel triggered Israel’s war on Gaza.
