’81 industries shut down in 5 years due to electricity crisis’

The Sindh Assembly was on Monday informed that 81 industrial units, including 10 textile mills and five sugar mills, have shut down over the past five years due to the persistent electricity crisis. In response to queries from lawmakers, Parliamentary Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department, Ali Ahmed, told the house that the provincial government is extending cooperation to industrialists. However, Leader of Opposition Ali Khurshidi expressed dissatisfaction with the responses, seeking information on the number of industrial units closed and new ones established between 2018 and 2023. Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani intervened, clarifying that the question pertained to the labor department. Ahmed reported that 6,856 industrial units remain operational across the province, with 915 new units established. Among the closed units are 10 textile mills and a cement factory. SHC reprimands PTA lawyer over X ban lifting statement

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) reprimanded Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) lawyer during a hearing of a plea against the ban on social media platform X. At the outset of the hearing, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court posed a critical question to the PTA’s lawyer: “Who instructed you to make a statement about lifting the ban on Twitter?” The PTA lawyer responded by stating that an affidavit had been submitted in court. However, the Chief Justice further inquired, “Who gave the directive to withdraw the notification regarding X’s ban?” The lawyer for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) explained that the instructions were issued due to a misunderstanding. The SHC, visibly surprised, questioned, “What was the misunderstanding? DPO Bannu dismisses 11 cops from services over protests

BANNU: The District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu has dismissed 11 officers from service for their continuous protests against the arrest of a former colleague. As per details, the decision follows a formal notice issued to the control room regarding the protesting policemen. The dismissed officers had also refused to take part in the polio vaccination campaign set to commence today in protest of arrest of their former colleague. Among those dismissed are Head Constable Sher Aslam, Head Constable Mir Zaman, and Zaheenullah, along with Fareedullah, Tauseefullah, and Hazratullah. Additionally, M. LAKKI MARWAT: Lakki Marwat Police have released a list of 73 most wanted terrorists, including their names, addresses, and details of their accomplices, ARY News reported. As per details, the list also includes individuals who have been involved in extremist activities, extortion, and bomb blasts. The police have directed their teams to intensify operations against these terrorists and their accomplices.
