FBR to disburse Rs32 bln tax refunds to exporters

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said that the board will disburse Rs.32 billion pending sale tax refunds to exporters on November 1 (today). This move comes after the Chairman FBR directed the speedy processing of refund payment orders up to September 30, 2024, said a FBR statement. Separately, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) launched an advanced Stock Register system via the Information Center 2.0 platform to provide officers real-time, in-depth access to registered persons’ data, bolstering transparency and securing compliance with Income Tax (IT) and Sales Tax (ST) regulations. US again denies allegations of involvement in PTI founder’s ouster

WASHINGTON: The US State Department has again rejected allegations suggesting American involvement in the ousting of former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday. Addressing a press conference in Washington, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller denied any US involvement in the removal of former prime minister, Imran Khan. Miller clarified that allegations of American interference in the ousting of the PTI founder are “baseless.” In response to a question referencing claims by Latif Khosa that the PTI founder would be released if Trump wins the upcoming US election and that Donald Lu was involved in a conspiracy against the former premier, US State Department spokesperson Miller firmly stated: “The legal proceedings against the former Prime Minister are a matter for Pakistani courts alone to decide.” He added that decisions regarding Pakistan’s political matters rest solely with the Pakistani people. ISLAMABAD: PTI Senator Sania Nishtar has tendered resignation from her seat of the upper house of the Parliament, citing sources ARY News reported on Wednesday. Sania Nishtar, former special assistant to the PM in the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) government, has submitted her resignation from the parliament seat in the Senate Secretariat, sources said. Sources said that Nishtar has submitted her resignation after joining a Geneva based international organization. Sania Nishtar was elected senator on a seat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2021 election of the Senate. Sania Nishtar a physician by profession, was appointed CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance in 2024. FBR raises property valuation in 56 cities

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has raised property valuation rates for immovable properties in 56 cities, ARY News reported on Wednesday. According to details, the FBR jacked up the property valuation rates by 75% of the actual market rates starting November 1, 2024. This decision aims to enhance revenue collection and reduce the undervaluation of properties. The updated rates reflect the FBR’s commitment to align the property values with their real market worth, expanding the number of cities affected from 42 to 56, in line with World Bank stipulations. The new valuation rates, include separate categories for commercial, industrial, and residential properties. The detailed notification of these revised rates is expected to be made public soon, following the approval from the FBR chairman. The changes will potentially raise property values by up to 75% in some cases, as part of a broader effort to realign with current market conditions and boost fiscal revenues. Read more:
