Fireworks material explosion leaves six dead in Phalia

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: At least six persons were killed and seven others injured in a blast in Kot Phulley Shah village in the vicinity of Phalia in Mandi Bahauddin district, ARY News reported on Saturday. Fireworks were being prepared in the house when the blast took place leaving six people including children and women died, while seven others injured in the deadly incident in Mandi Bahauddin district of Punjab. The rooftops of two houses were also collapsed in the fatal incident. Police said that two persons, Amir Shahzad and Imran Ali were preparing fireworks at the upper floor of their house when an electric short circuit caused the explosion. SC bench questions how distinction was made between cases tried in military courts, ATCs

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday adjourned the hearing on the intra-court appeal against the trial of civilians in military courts, ARY News reported. The bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard intra-court appeals challenging the decisions of military courts. The bench also comprised Justices Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Naeem Akhtar Afghan, Musarrat Hilali, and Shahid Bilal Hassan, At the outset of the hearing advocate Khawaja Haris said that Article 233 does not suspend fundamental rights but rather applies in an emergency situation where rights can be suspended by the President. Justice Jamal Mandokhel emphasized that the executive carries out the orders of the President, and the executive holds the powers to manage such matters. LAKKI MARWAT: The bomb disposal squad foiled a terrorism bid by de-fusing a bomb device planted at a bridge in Lakki Marwat district, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device (IED) at a bridge in Khan Kalay in the jurisdiction of Tijori police station in Lakki Marwat district to target the security forces. Police department’s bomb disposal squad with timely action, de-fused the IED bomb device carrying 15 kilograms explosives, officials said. “The terrorists had planted bomb beneath the bridge to attack the security forces,” district police officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat Jawad Ishaq has said.
