American singer-songwriter Brian Wilson, co-founder of the rock band ‘Beach Boys’, has died at the age of 82, his family announced. We are at a loss for words right now,” they said. “Please respect our privacy at this time, as our family is grieving. BEIJING: China is counting on one crucial advantage as it seeks to grind out a deal to ease its high-stakes trade war with the United States — dominance in rare earths. Used in electric vehicles, hard drives, wind turbines and missiles, rare earth elements are essential to the modern economy and national defence. AFP takes a look at how rare earths have become a key sticking point in talks between the US and China. Mining boom “The Middle East has oil. China has rare earths,” Deng Xiaoping, the late Chinese leader whose pro-market reforms set the country on its path to becoming an economic powerhouse, said in 1992. Sana Mir becomes first Pakistani woman inducted into ICC Hall of Fame

ISLAMABAD: In a landmark achievement for Pakistan cricket, Sana Mir has become the first Pakistani woman to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame. Sana Mir was one of seven celebrated cricketers inducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today, alongside MS Dhoni (India), Matthew Hayden (Australia), Daniel Vettori (New Zealand), Sarah Taylor (England), Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith (South Africa). Sana Mir’s career is defined by a string of groundbreaking achievements.
