Trump sues Wall Street Journal over Epstein report, seeks $10 billion

U.S. President Donald Trump sued the Wall Street Journal and its owners including Rupert Murdoch for at least $10 billion on Friday, over the newspaper’s report that his name was on a 2003 birthday greeting for Jeffrey Epstein that included a sexually suggestive drawing and a reference to secrets they shared. The lawsuit filed in Miami federal court names Murdoch, Dow Jones, News Corp and its Chief Executive Robert Thomson, and two  Wall Street Journal  reporters as defendants, saying they defamed Trump and caused him to suffer “overwhelming” financial and reputational harm. Epstein, the disgraced financier and sex offender, died by suicide in a New York jail cell in 2019. An Israeli strike on Gaza’s sole Catholic Church killed three people and injured several others, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which oversees the small parish, said on Thursday. New drone attacks hit three oil fields in northern Iraq: Kurdish forces

ARBIL, Iraq: Explosive-laden drones hit three oil fields in Iraq’s northern autonomous Kurdistan region early Wednesday, Kurdish forces said, a day after a similar attack shut operations at a US-run field. In the past few weeks, Iraq and particularly the Kurdistan region have seen a spate of unclaimed drone and rocket attacks. Wednesday’s attacks have raised the number of oil field hit in Kurdistan to five within a week. “At 06:00 and 06:15 (0300 and 0315 GMT) two explosive-laden drones attacked” the Peshkabir oil field operated by the Norwegian oil group DNO in Zakho district, Kurdistan’s counterterrorism services said. Ten die, several injured in devastating rainfall in Lahore

LAHORE: Calamitous rainfall in Lahore since last night submerged several areas of the provincial capital city claiming at least 10 lives in various incidents.  Main traffic arteries of the city have been drowned under the rainwater. Around 10 people killed across the city in incidents of electrocution and falling rooftops during the downpour started at 9:10 PM on Tuesday night. Two children, 15-year-old Awais and 13-year-old Esha died in an electrocution incident in Harbanspura of Lahore. Separately, five persons of a family died and two injured when a roof collapsed at Muridwal in Thokar Niaz Beg, while three others died and scores were injured in roof collapse in Raiwind. The Met Office and the PDMA have predicted heavy rainfall during next 24 hours under the third monsoon spell in Punjab.
