Magnitude 4.6 earthquake hits Quetta

QUETTA: An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted Quetta district and its adjoining areas on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.

According to the seismological center, the depth of the earthquake was 98 kilometers, while the epicenter was in the Hindukush region.

People came out of their houses in fear by reciting Kalma-e-Tayyaba.

However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported from any part Quetta so far.

In November, an earthquake of 3.3 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Gilgit and its adjoining areas.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) confirmed that tremors were felt in Gilgit and the adjoining areas. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported from anywhere so far.

According to NSMC Islamabad, the depth of the quake was recorded at 45 kilometers and the epicenter was 84 kilometers in the North West.

ISLAMABAD: Metro Bus service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been suspended amid lawyers protest, ARY News reported on Monday. Different bodies of lawyers have announced holding protest in Islamabad today, Monday, against a session of Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) to pick eight judges for Supreme Court. Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Miss Aalia Neelum on Monday administered oath to nine new additional judges, ARY News reported.  As per details, Mr. Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Advocate Supreme Court, Sardar Akbar Ali, Advocate Supreme Court, Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Javid Iqbal Wains, Advocate Supreme Court, Mr. Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Advocate Supreme Court, Mr. Khalid Ishaq, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid, Advocate Supreme Court and Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Advocate Supreme Court, were administered oath as additional judges of LHC.
