Karachi other coastal areas of Sindh to receive rain today

KARACHI: The Met Office has forecast rainfall in Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh on Sunday, ARY News reported.

Various areas of Karachi could receive light or heavy rainfall in afternoon or evening today, according to the weather report.

Yesterday’s rain, failed to break the hot spell that city has been facing for the last several days. The Met Office has forecast hot and humid weather today with chances of isolated thunderstorms/light rain with maximum temperature likely to range between 36-38 degrees Celsius.

The rainfall yesterday also exposed the performance of the K-Electric as power outages reported in scores of areas as soon as the rain started and took many hours to restore.

Lahore received light rainfall this morning bringing temperatures down.

Lahore’s Model Town, Faisal Town, Gulbarg and Akbar Chowk received light rain or drizzle.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted hot weather in Quetta, Islamabad, Peshawar and Kashmir.

Judge finds staffer committed rape in Australian parliament

SYDNEY: An Australian judge ruled Monday that a conservative political staffer likely committed rape in parliament, a dramatic twist in a case that sparked national protests. The judge threw out a defamation suit brought by the former staffer, Bruce Lehrmann, against Network 10 television after it broadcast an interview with his alleged victim, Brittany Higgins. Federal Court Justice Michael Lee made his finding on the balance of probabilities, as required in civil cases. In a criminal case, a conviction must be proven beyond reasonable doubt. “Mr Lehrmann raped Ms Higgins. I hasten to stress; this is a finding on the balance of probabilities,” the judge said. “Mr Lehrmann remains a man who has not been convicted of any offence, but he has now been found, by the civil standard of proof, to have engaged in a great wrong,” Lee said. Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Miss Aalia Neelum on Monday administered oath to nine new additional judges, ARY News reported.  As per details, Mr. Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Advocate Supreme Court, Sardar Akbar Ali, Advocate Supreme Court, Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Javid Iqbal Wains, Advocate Supreme Court, Mr. Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Advocate Supreme Court, Mr. Khalid Ishaq, Advocate Supreme Court, Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid, Advocate Supreme Court and Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood, Advocate Supreme Court, were administered oath as additional judges of LHC.
