However, this year’s celebrations were subdued in light of the recent train accident tragedy that occurred in Greece. Greece’s National Day, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated on March 25th every year. This day marks the country’s declaration of independence from Ottoman rule in 1821. It is a significant day for Greeks all around the world, and celebrations are held in various cities where Greek communities reside. The event hosted by the Embassy of Greece in Washington D.C. was a representation of the country’s culture and traditions. However, due to the recent tragedy in Greece, where a train derailed and killed dozens of people, the event was not as lively as in previous years. Biden says not seeking conflict with Iran after deadly strikes

President Joe Biden said Friday the United States is not seeking conflict with Tehran, after Washington carried out strikes in Syria in retaliation for a deadly drone attack. A war monitor said 14 people were killed in the strikes. They came after the Pentagon said a US contractor died, and another contractor and five military personnel were wounded by a kamikaze drone “of Iranian origin” that struck a US-led coalition base near Hasakeh in northeastern Syria. In response, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Thursday that, at Biden’s direction, he had ordered the “precision air strikes tonight in eastern Syria against facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps”. IMF bailout package not linked to elections in Pakistan: Esther

ISLAMABAD: International Monetary Fund resident representative Esther Pérez Ruiz has said that the IMF bailout package is not linked to elections in Pakistan, ARY News reported.  In an exclusive talk with ARY News, Esther clarified that it had not placed any condition for the revival of the loan programme for Pakistan. “We cannot interfere in the constitutional process of Pakistan through a loan programme.” The IMF representative told local media the targets set by the global lander at the aggregate federal and provincial government level, adding that there was fiscal space in the targets to allocate or reset priorities for spending and/or raise additional revenues to carry out constitutional activities.
