However, this year’s celebrations were subdued in light of the recent train accident tragedy that occurred in Greece. Greece’s National Day, also known as Independence Day, is celebrated on March 25th every year. This day marks the country’s declaration of independence from Ottoman rule in 1821. It is a significant day for Greeks all around the world, and celebrations are held in various cities where Greek communities reside. The event hosted by the Embassy of Greece in Washington D.C. was a representation of the country’s culture and traditions. However, due to the recent tragedy in Greece, where a train derailed and killed dozens of people, the event was not as lively as in previous years. The Embassy decided not to play music during the celebrations as a sign of respect for the victims of the accident. Despi
